Jang Dong-gun marries Go So-young

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

On May 2, Jang Dong-gun married fellow actress Go So-young, and given Jang’s status as one of Korea’s most popular (and most loved) actors, the wedding was pretty much the equivalent of a fancy awards ceremony red carpet. There were approximately 500 (!) guests in attendance.

The wedding took place at Seoul’s Silla Hotel, which was preceded by a press conference (the ceremony itself was not open to the public or press).

Presiding as host for the event was longtime friend Park Joong-hoon (Haeundae). Veteran balladeer Shin Seung-hoon sang, while the bouquet was caught by good friend Lee Hye-young (Queen of Housewives).

The couple (he’s 38, she’s a few months younger at 37) will honeymoon in Bali.

And now for the procession of stars…

Jung Woo-sung (The Good, The Bad, The Weird):

Lee Jung-jae (The Housemaid) is looking sharp. Mmm! I do like the skinny-tie trend (though I prefer the single-breasted look on him, or really anybody):

Gong Hyung-jin (Chuno) has been a close friend of Jang’s for many years, as has wedding MC Park Joong-hoon(Haeundae):

It’s no secret that Song Seung-heon (East of Eden) and So Ji-sub (Road No. 1) are best buddies. Do you think they called each other beforehand to talk about outfit choices? (I prefer So Ji-sub’s casual look as a whole, but it IS a wedding, so points to Song Seung-heon?)

Shin Hyun-joon (Cain and Abel):

Kwon Sang-woo, Sohn Tae-young, and son. I usually roll my eyes when people say infants look like their parents (they look like blobs! clearly I am a baby person), but this kiddo looks JUST like Dad. He’s even got that pout going on.

How is it that Lee Byung-heon always looks exactly the same, no matter the event? He will be sixty and rocking the choco abs and still running around doing action movies looking just like this.

Rain: Wearing a T-shirt to a wedding seems a little casual, but I think it works with the pinstripes. (Is anyone else just waiting for him to get a new hairstyle, though?)

Kim Min-hee (I Like It Hot) always seems to wear clothing that would look crazy and unflattering on anyone else. On her, it just looks eccentric and cool, but not so cool you’d want to run out and wear the crazy yourself.

I love how Ha Ji-won (Haeundae) looks. Crisp, fresh, and chic.

Oh, Hyun Bin (Friend, Our Legend)! The hair! The slouch! What gives?

“National actor” Ahn Sung-ki (The Divine Weapon), Kim Su-ro (God of Study), and Sol Kyung-gu (No Mercy):

I assume the unruly hair and mustache is from Han Jae-seok’s current drama (Merchant Kim Man-deok) and not just his styling of choice? Also: Oh Man-seok (King and I).

Another of Jang Dong-gun’s close friends, well-known nice guy Kim Min-jong (Return of Iljimae) with singer Shin Seung-hoon. I wonder if stars secretly love daytime weddings because it gives them all an excuse to wear shades.

Everyone’s favorite “chep” Lee Seon-kyun (Pasta):

Not a fan of the boxy blazer or that washed-out peach color on Shin Mina (The Naked Kitchen). And is she wearing… shorts?

Lee Hye-young (Queen of Housewives), who caught Go So-young’s bouquet, is always dressed to impress.

I’ll say it, I hate pop singer Lee Jung-hyun’s singing voice, but she does look cute here. Is it mean to say she reminds me of a bobblehead doll?

This look is starting to be Cha Seung-won’s (Athena) signature, isn’t it? I’m not sure if I like it.

This dress looks all sorts of confused, but Go Jun-hee (What’s Up Fox) wears it well.

Joo Jin-mo (Dream) is one example of a guest who makes the no-tie thing work. The vest adds sharpness…

…but I do not think Kim Nam-gil (Bad Guy) gets away with the no-tie look quite so well. Ah, who am I kidding, it’s Kim Nam-gil, he gets away with everything.

Married couples! Here’s ’90s star Sohn Ji-chang with actress wife Oh Yeon-soo (Bad Guy), while Kim Seung-woo(IRIS) arrives with wife Kim Nam-joo (Queen of Housewives):

Um. I don’t know what to say about Lee Yong-woo (Style). Uh. Is that a look for his upcoming drama Birdie Buddy? If it is, I really don’t know how I’m going to take it seriously.
